The Ministry operates towards a vibrant, competitive Fiji through sustainable development in Industry and Trade. The Ministry strategizes to:
- diversify export base;
- diversify and expand manufacturing and commercial sector;
- improve investor understanding of new incentives;
- improve business regulatory environment;
- enhance consumer protection and awareness; and
- improve communities livelihood through cooperatives and small business development.
The core role of the Ministry is to formulate and implement policies and strategies to facilitate investment, trade in services, business development, cooperatives and small business, fair trading, competition and consumer protection.
These roles and responsibilities are undertaken within the:

- Trade and Standards Advisory Council (TSAC)
- Trade Commission Taiwan, Trade Commission Los Angeles, Trade Commission Shanghai
